Facial Gua sha isn't about beauty,
it's about life.

Many people see Facial Gua sha through the lens of commercialized beauty.

This is our warped modern idea of the beautification of perfection whereby immaculate, smooth skin is seen as a goal to strive for. You're supposed to hide that which is imperfect and delay that which may show your life experience.

But if you break past the facade and look at what Facial Gua sha really does and, of course, should do, you see how it is all about reaching your potential.

🌷 We are the flowers that you see in the garden. If you put us in good soil, we grow. We drink the morning dew and raindrops from the sky. We absorb the heat of the day and rest under the stars. And when the time is right, that plain bud sitting on our stems transforms into a cascade of colors as our flower blooms and shines, glistening in the sun. 💐 It's when the plant reaches its full potential and when it is at its most beautiful.

This is Facial Gua sha.

It's not about perfection.

It's about helping someone reach their potential both on the inside and outside.

It's about bringing the radiance and vibrancy that exists in all of us out onto the skin for us all to see and appreciate.

Anything less than this is both to misunderstand what you are doing and to fail to see the real meaning of beauty.👈

These are useless

A Gua sha tool is just a tool.
It's nothing without the right knowledge.

In my first Gua sha book I talked about when I was an apprentice craftsman in Japan. 🗾

I told how intricately made chess pieces which were carved from thousand-year-old trunks 🌳 were exquisite by themselves but it was only when seen with a chess board and the other pieces can they really be understood.

It's like that with a Gua sha tool.

It's just a piece of stone or horn or plastic or whatever.

It's only when you see it glide over the surface like a ship sailing in the wind that you see what it does. ⛵ And only when that ship is navigating the ocean of skin with precision and purpose do you truly understand the tool.

That's the most precious commodity you can acquire. Unfortunately with Gua sha, good knowledge is a rare thing.

The magic of Gua sha is that there's no magic.

With Gua sha no magic is necessary. 🧙‍♂️

You don't need to be mystical and esoteric about what you're doing.

Like all of Chinese medicine, Gua sha is as real as a breeze hitting your face, as the soil falling through your fingers, as the soft petals of a blooming rose. 🌹

There's nothing about how Gua sha works that you can't see in the plants, trees and flowers growing all around us. It is nature personified.

But the thing is. If you actually pause for a second and look at your garden, or house plant or tree outside, you see that these things are actually wondrous. 🌿

And you knew that.

But with the lives we lead nowadays there never seems to be the time to just be still and see them for what they are.

If there's any magic involved, this is it.

...Most Practitioners fail to understand Facial Gua sha.

It's unfortunate to see so many talented individuals misled, making the same mistakes over and over again.

They subscribe to a superficial understanding of facial Gua sha and beauty, far removed from its ancient Chinese roots. They put all of their efforts into Instagram marketing and fancy tools without the wealth of knowledge and technique to make a meaningful impact on people's lives.

So they fail to stand out in the ever-growing space of holistic beauty.

If you compare what I say about Gua sha - especially Facial Gua sha - you'll find it very different from what other people say!

I mean very different!

In fact, if you really want to know, no one else comes close! 😉

This is because I haven't come to Gua sha via a standard route. If you know a little about me, you'll be aware that I spent 11 years in North Africa and pretty much stayed there working in my clinic. Experimenting, treating, and writing. I produced several books but I rarely left the confines of the Rif mountain coast.

This is where my Gua sha comes from. It's totally unique because it comes out of the particular world that I enclosed myself in.

This is why if you hear me talking about Gua sha, you'll notice that it ISN'T someone trying to show you a few strokes that they learned on a weekend course.

I'll talk about Chinese medicine but it WON'T be a bunch of points or protocols with bland explanations.

I'll talk about the face but NOT the way you think I will!

Probably the thing you'll notice is the passion. The excitement. The fascination. And the joy that I have showing you how there's a wonderful world out there of Gua sha, and that the natural world, Gua sha and you are intricately connected!
